    Hi Serena

Just to say that your site is brilliantly structured. It was the first one to pop up in my search results, it”s easy to understand, and I could quickly find what I needed. A refreshing change from many of my other experiences on the web!

I’m looking into tuition and/or tests to enable me to gain Italian citizenship, am a huge language enthusiast working with a very well known Italian company, but with limited Italian. (So far speak Portuguese, French and German).

Hoping you may be able to help…

    All the best

    Phil, UK

    Ciao,

I am planning on taking the B1 Plida exam next year. I am worried about the oral part as I am a shy person by nature and I have a hard time with public speaking. Do you have an idea of what topics they usually ask about or any tips? Grazie Mille!

Usual topics for B1 requires speaking about your personal preferences or events, generally talking about your last vacations, the last movie you watched or your favorite book or city. Good luck!

Italian language should be mandatory for all italian citizenship.
By blood they mostly dont even have any command of Italian language whatsoever.

Ciao Serena 🙂 grazie per scrivere questo articolo; è molto informativo! Is it possible to take the exam without taking a course at a specific school? We are in the U.S. thank you so much.

Can I find a list somewhere of the language schools in the U.S. that offer the B1 for citizenship exam?

      Ciao Susanna,

I’m afraid you can’t. Try to email the Italian consulates/language schools in your state. I’m sure they will point you out in the right direction.

Hi Serena, thank you for taking your time to answer our questions. Am married to an Italian man, i live and work in Italy for 12years now. Parlo abbastanza bene l’Italiano e voglio chiedere la cittadinanza. Is it possible to do the B1 exam without doing any course? If yes, when is the earliest i can do the exam?

Ciao Doreen, you can definitely take the Citizenship exam without doing any course, as long as your Italian is at an intermediate level. You just need to find a language school or institution (such as a university) in your area that is accredited to administer the exam.
