Fall in Love with Italian: 7 Modern Romance Stories for Language Learners (B1, B2 CEFR Levels)
One day, while I was working on my laptop at a café in Rome, I noticed a young couple on a date at the table next to me. That simple moment inspired me to write this series of seven mini romantic stories for intermediate Italian language learners. Each story is divided into mini-chapters and follows the lives of modern people experiencing the excitement and turmoil of falling in or out of love around the world in some of my favorite cities, like Tokyo, Prague, Milan, and New York.
Perfect for All intermediate Italian learners
Why Learn Italian Through Stories?
When it comes to learning languages, textbooks and grammar exercises certainly have their place. But there’s something special about learning through stories. When you’re immersed in a good book, your mind naturally absorbs vocabulary and grammar patterns. Before you know it, you’ll remember new terms and phrase structures just by reading them in a story you can’t put down.
The grammar and vocabulary used in this book are suitable for all intermediate Italian language learners (A2, B1, B2 CEFR levels).

I LOVE Serena’s books and hopes she write more for Intermediate level. This book will help you learn colloquial Italian and new vocab through beautiful and engaging love stories. I am a huge fan of the translation exercises and preposition challenges at the end of each chapter. I read it through once and now and working on shadowing each chapter. 10/10 recommend!
This little book has a lot of content and exercises to use for advancing to another level. A really good companion for Duolingo, which I'm also using.
Another excellent Italian book from the author, Serena Capilli, who is a passionate writer and teacher of Italian. This book – “7 Romance Short Stories for Italian Language Learners” - is an intermediate level gem filled with both compelling love stories and well-placed grammatical aids. It is packed with useful everyday idioms and their English translations, rich vocabulary, and each story ends with great writing exercises. If you want to improve your Italian you should buy this book.
Great little book to help with reading comprehension. I have been studying but wanted to try these. They’re great - you can refer back time and time again. I will try others.
This is not the first book I've read by this author. And, this one did not disappoint! In fact, it might be my favorite one yet. The stories are intermedite level, short and sweet and it feels good to know that I've understood and yet to also learn some new vocabulary. For me, the best and most useful are the exercises at the end of each story -- translating dialogue from English to Italian and fill in the blank exercises on prepositions. The answer key tells me that I have more work to do but I am so motivated to continue my Italian language journey! I appreciate the thought that went in to crafting these great stories and exercises. It's clear that she loves her profession as a language teacher and writer and wants all of us to succeed!
One critique - I was surprised to see the theme of broken relationships between gay men playing out in this tiny format! This was a long running theme in Italian movies until very recently, where gay men either die, get very ill or are punished by "God" in some other way by the end of the movie. Basta.
