Why does real Italian feel so hard — even when you know the grammar?
Most intermediate learners know the rules but still freeze when Italian gets fast, natural, and full of real life. Piazzetta Italiana closes that gap. It’s not a textbook — it’s a guided way to read and listen to authentic Italian every month, while discovering the Italy people actually live in.

What readers say
I love Serena’s Piazzettas for lots of reasons. She features interesting locations which she is very knowledgeable about , she talks about the every day habits of Italians ,the modern Italy ,all in very clear understandable language. She cleverly uses vocabulary and exercises to help with natural conversational skills which you don’t find in text books. I would recommend them to anybody wanting to learn the Italian language and about the beautiful country.
Serena’s novels and Piazzetta Italiana magazines are wonderful to read, and such a pleasure to use in the classroom where my adult students really benefit and learn from the combined articles, audio, and built in exercises. These materials offer a complete range of resources to instructors as well as to students of this language and culture. Quite a few of my students, starting from the B1 level and higher, have commented that the audio has really helped with their comprehension, and I, especially, enjoy building on the information and new vocabulary included, and using these tools as the basis for Q & A sessions and discussion. Thank you, Serena!
Un’altra edizione perfetta per chi di noi apprezza la cultura italiana, studia la lingua italiana e ha radici italiane.

A textbook teaches grammar rules in isolation. Piazzetta Italiana gives you real Italian culture — the language people actually use — written at your level, with audio and vocabulary support so you understand it naturally.

Why did I create Piazzetta Italiana Magazine?
I created Piazzetta Italiana to help students and teachers bring structure to their conversation classes. I’ve been teaching Italian for over a decade, and I’ve learned that “just speaking” isn’t about following a recipe — it’s guided speaking that bridges the gap between knowing the rules and becoming a confident speaker of Italian.
I wanted to give my students modern, up-to-date content they could read before class, so they’d arrive ready to talk. Today it’s a magazine that many teachers use in exactly the same way.
Piazzetta means “small square” in Italian — the place where people meet and talk. That’s the whole idea: to help students and teachers build real Italian conversations, and the confidence to talk about the things that matter to them.
