Ciao! I am Serena, Your Italian Teacher
I’m a certified teacher of Italian as a foreign language, a polyglot, an author, and, most importantly, a lifelong language learner. In school, I used to be a terrible language student. However, no matter how often my teachers told me I wasn’t good enough, my burning desire to learn drove me to become fluent in multiple languages.
I believe that anyone can learn a language at any point in their life. You don’t need a special multilingual gene. All you need is a passion for learning, the right guidance, and a clear structure.
My vocation is to help adult learners from all over the world acquire the gift of speaking Italian in a smooth, structured, and effective way.

The story is engaging, and the vocabulary lists and exercises reinforce the learning skills. For me, the most challenging part of Italian is developing my listening and speaking skills. Having an audio file for each chapter is extremely helpful. This is my second book by Serena Capilli and I look forward to more.

This is one of the most effective Italian learning tools on the market. In my quest to learn Italian, I have purchased textbooks, grammar books, audiobooks, and workbooks with repetition drills. All of these efforts proved to be disappointing, boring, and tedious. Luckily, I found Serena‘s short stories.

I’ve read a number of italian books in the past year, but I found this one to be simply the best: the chapters are short enough that you can easily get through the end in minutes without feeling overwhelmed by the new vocabulary or grammar. Between chapters you’ll find useful explanations on typical mistakes beginner learners make. And the best is that at the end of the book I could tell I knew Rome better than I ever did.

what my readers say about my short stories
Each of my Italian short story books features bite-sized chapters you can read in minutes, cultural insights to deepen your connection with Italy and its culture, and retention activities to reinforce everything you’ve learned.
Everyone claims to have easy books for beginners, and I’ve bought them all, but they seem to be for beginners that have been learning for a while. I have been studying Italian for about 4 months and found this book fun and easy(ish) to read. There were a bunch of new words to learn but they also happened to be the ones she highlights and gives the definitions for. I highly recommend this for any true beginner.

A wonderful story of an American girl seeking her roots in Sicilia, birthplace of her grandfather. It describes in modern Italian the adventures of a young American girl in Italy who travels to Sicily in the hope of discovering the land of her grandfather and eventually to obtain Italian citizenship. The language is contemporary, using many idioms and providing exercises to reinforce their meaning. It was a pleasure to read and leaves one wanting more .
